  • Toothpaste

    Relief from your bee sting can be found by simply coating it with toothpaste. The reasons for this can be narrowed down to two different theories. The first theory is that the glycerin found in toothpaste helps to dry out the bee venom that is under the skin, which reduces the symptoms. The second theory is that the alkaline toothpaste helps to neutralize the bee venom's acid, which helps in decreasing the symptoms. Either way, it can be very helpful in treating your bee sting.


Other home treatments may work somewhat, but not as well as these two. There are over the counter medications that you can use as a bee sting remedy as well. Here are the two most helpful ones in treating the symptoms of a bee sting, according to some sources.

  • Calamine lotion

    Calamine lotion or Caladryl is known for calming itchy skin and it works very well as a bee sting remedy, too. It can help control the pain and itching for up to four hours. A simple reapplication of the lotion can give you relief in just a few minutes.

  • Antihistamine and Pain Reliever

    Taking an antihistamine like Benadryl, along with ibuprofen, can help to decrease the pain and inflammation from a bee sting. This can be used in combination with other treatments that you apply directly to the skin for maximum relief of your symptoms.


And of course, if someone has severe reactions to bee sting, their remedy is to have something like an Epi-pen that you may have to help them administer. Be aware the benefits of drugs in Epi-pens are short-lived, so getting the victim to the hospital quickly is critical.

Bee sting remedy options are numerous. The thing to remember is to remove the stinger as soon as possible to help decrease the amount of venom that is release. After this, you are ready to begin treating the sting with the remedy of your choice.
