Health and Emergency Topics
for the layman
Are you looking for "English" answers to your health care and emergency medical concerns?
That's what I offer here. Being a new site I don't have as much available yet as I aspire to, but that's changing weekly as I get additional articles researched and published. I anticipate covering a wide range of topics the layman has interest in knowing answers to. My goal is to give you a handle on how to take care of life's big and little bumps, and to know when they are big enough it's time to seek medical attention. You'll know when to call 911; the number is 9-1-1.
I'll have information about:
* medical emergencies
* and how to prepare for them
* emergency communications
* bird flu, or H5N1, preparedness
* food storage
* wound care
* bites and stings
* hypothermia and frostbite
* and other issues that seem pertinent and important as I go
As a first responder in a rural area I have found people to be unprepared for the variety of medical situations that we all face at some time or another. Sometimes it's a matter of thinking that a certain situation wouldn't happen to us. Sometimes it's a matter of not even knowing about a problem that we could face at some point. As I learn things I hope to share with you what I think you need to know to survive those surprises.
